Valvetronic Motor Relearn Procedure
Method 1 (with scanner)
Step 1: Using a BMW scan tool, enter the 'Service' menu.
Step 2: Press 'Adjustment Programs'.
Step 3: Press 'Learning Valvetronic Limit Positions'.
Step 4: Follow the prompts on the scan tool.
NOTE: You should hear a loud whirring noise as the valvetronic motor cycle itself and relearns the new stop positions.
Method 2 (without scanner)
Step 1: Have your key with you and get into the driver's seat.
Step 2: Insert your key into the ignition.
Step 3: Press the start/stop button to bring your vehicle into accessory mode.
Step 4: Press the accelerator pedal fully down to the floor and hold for 10 seconds, then let go.
Step 5: Allow the car to sit for 30 seconds in accessory mode, with the engine off.
NOTE: You should hear a loud whirring noise as the valvetronic motor cycle itself and relearns the new stop positions.
Congrats! Your BMW's Valvetronic motor has been re-configured.
