1. This digital gauge cluster features Apple CarPlay / Android Screen Mirroring and Google / Apple Maps navigation compatibility, allowing you to wirelessly connect your smartphone for seamless turn-by-turn directions—just like the modern G-Chassis BMWs.
2. Please note: while navigation, music, and key widgets are supported, mobile app functions such as texting and calling are not available directly through the cluster interface.
3. With the latest iOS updates, you can now add custom widgets directly to the center of your dashboard display — including Spotify, stock market updates, weather, and more. One widget can be displayed at a time, which can be selected easily through your device’s CarPlay settings for a personalized, real-time experience.

E-Chassis Sound System & Audio Playback Notes

Mobile phones can connect to your vehicle through Bluetooth, but most phones can only maintain one active Bluetooth audio output on aftermarket systems at a time. This means your phone may not be able to send audio to both the digital gauge cluster and an aftermarket Apple CarPlay unit simultaneously.

For E-Chassis models, Bluetooth audio compatibility depends on the vehicle’s year and factory audio setup. Some E-Chassis vehicles do not support full factory Bluetooth audio streaming, so an AUX cable may be required for proper sound playback.

Factory Bluetooth audio can still be used when available. For example, if you are using Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or another media app, you can change the audio output source on your phone from the digital cluster or CarPlay unit back to your BMW’s factory Bluetooth audio. However, in some cases, the phone may try to bounce between multiple Bluetooth outputs, which can interrupt playback. For the most stable sound experience on E-Chassis vehicles, we recommend using a physical AUX cable.

If you want to connect your phone directly to the digital gauge cluster, disable or disconnect Apple CarPlay from your aftermarket head unit during your drive through your phone’s Bluetooth settings. You can also select “Forget Device” on the aftermarket Apple CarPlay unit, then pair your phone wirelessly to the BAVMODS® digital gauge cluster.

The digital cluster includes a built-in speaker with adjustable volume, labeled “Beep Volume” in the settings. This speaker is mainly designed for system sounds and basic audio output. It is not designed to control or play through your BMW’s main sound system. While audio can technically play from the cluster itself, playback quality will be limited and quieter than the factory speaker system.

For the best sound experience on E-Chassis vehicles, we recommend using the factory AUX port when playing music or media through Apple CarPlay or the digital cluster. This allows you to display navigation, apps, and media information on the digital cluster while maintaining full factory-quality sound through your BMW’s speakers.

Recommended E-Chassis Setup:

1. Select “Forget Device” on the aftermarket Apple CarPlay unit if needed.
2. Pair your mobile phone wirelessly to the BAVMODS® digital gauge cluster.
3. Connect your AUX cable from your phone to the factory AUX input.
4. Use the digital cluster for navigation, CarPlay display, and app control.
5. Use the factory AUX connection for sound playback through your BMW speakers.

E-Chassis Sound System & Audio Playback Notes

F-Chassis vehicles generally have factory Bluetooth audio streaming capability. Because of this, many F-Chassis models can remain connected to both the digital cluster and the vehicle’s factory sound system more easily.

When using apps such as Spotify or Apple Podcasts, simply open the app and change the audio output source from CarPlay or the digital cluster to the BMW factory Bluetooth audio. This allows the digital cluster to remain connected for display and control while your music or media plays through the factory BMW sound system.

Best Practice Summary

For E-Chassis vehicles, use AUX for the most stable and highest-quality audio playback.

For F-Chassis vehicles, use the factory Bluetooth audio output when available and manually select BMW factory audio as the playback source inside your media app.

For example, early models like the 2007 BMW 328i/335i equipped with CCC may face K-CAN communication limitations due to older-generation technology. • WILL ONLY FUNCTION WITH GASOLINE, PETROL, OR DIESEL ENGINE VEHICLES.

*HEADS-UP DISPLAY COMPATIBILITY:

For vehicles equipped with a factory heads-up display (HUD), this digital gauge cluster can be installed and will function fully, but please note that the factory HUD will turn off once the new cluster is installed.

We do offer a HUD-compatible version of the digital gauge cluster specifically for F-Chassis 5 Series and 6 Series models.

For all other models, the cluster will work 100% correctly, but the heads-up display feature will be disabled unless you own an F-Chassis 5 or 6 Series and select the HUD option at checkout.

*FITS BOTH LHD AND RHD MODELS. Simply head into the factory settings and configure if your vehicle is LHD or RHD so notifications such as 'door open' display accurately. 

This digital gauge cluster supports Apple CarPlay and Android Screen Mirroring functionality.

*ANDROID AUTO VS SCREEN MIRRORING

Android users, please note: This unit does NOT include full native Android Auto.

Instead, Android users will connect using screen mirroring through our mobile app Zlink:

• Download/open the Zlink app on your Android device
• Pair your phone wirelessly to the digital gauge cluster
• Use Zlink to mirror your phone screen and display supported apps (such as navigation) directly on the cluster

This provides a modern, connected experience similar to newer BMW systems, but it is screen mirroring, not the full Android Auto interface.
