Background Information
The factory physical key-blade the E8X and E9X comes equipped with is the the Model No. HU92. This keyblade (pictured below) features a rectangular shape with one bezeled slit cut into either side. Many other BMW models features this slit on the side, making replicating these keys something a locksmith isn't always comfortable doing.
The two physical key blades included in our upgraded M4-Style Keyfob Retrofit Kit come uncut unless you choose the cutting option at checkout. The physical key blades, Model No. HU100R, have a similar rectangular shape but are narrower and lack the hard-to-replicate slitted sides.
This modified design eliminates the need for the factory-style slitted sides, making the physical key easier to work with. Any locksmith can cut this key, even though it appears different, and it will still function perfectly.
While the factory keyfob may look different due to its wider design and slitted sides, the physical keys included in our upgraded keyfob kit can be cut to match and function exactly like the OEM version.
