Descripción

Connect compatible BMW E-Chassis vehicles to supported diagnostic and coding software with this K+DCAN OBD2 interface cable. Designed for BMW platforms that communicate through K-Line and CAN-based diagnostic protocols, this cable provides a direct wired connection between the vehicle’s OBD2 port and a compatible Windows computer.

The integrated switch allows the cable to support a broader range of older and newer BMW E-Chassis applications by changing the internal communication configuration when required. This makes it especially useful for enthusiasts, technicians, retrofitters, and BMW owners working across multiple generations of vehicles.

Equipped with an FTDI FT232 interface chip, the cable is designed to provide stable USB communication with compatible diagnostic software. When properly configured with the correct drivers and software, it can be used for fault-code diagnostics, module communication, coding, live vehicle data, adaptations, service procedures, and other supported functions.

Unlike basic universal OBD2 readers that typically access only standardized emissions-related information, a properly configured BMW K+DCAN interface can communicate with many BMW-specific control modules when used with compatible software such as INPA and other supported diagnostic platforms.

Key Features

  • BMW K+DCAN Interface: Designed for compatible BMW vehicles using K-Line and CAN-based diagnostic communication.
  • Integrated K-Line / DCAN Switch: Allows the cable configuration to be changed for compatibility with different BMW generations and diagnostic protocols.
  • FTDI FT232 Chip: Uses an FTDI-based USB interface for stable communication between the vehicle and compatible Windows diagnostic software.
  • INPA Compatible: Designed for use with properly configured BMW diagnostic software including compatible INPA installations.
  • BMW-Specific Diagnostics: Supports communication with compatible engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body, comfort, and other vehicle control modules.
  • Coding Support: Can be used for supported BMW coding, retrofit configuration, module settings, and vehicle personalization when paired with the appropriate software.
  • Fault-Code Diagnostics: Supports reading and clearing compatible BMW-specific diagnostic trouble codes.
  • Live Data Access: Allows supported software to display real-time vehicle and sensor information from compatible control modules.
  • Service & Adaptation Functions: Can support applicable service resets, adaptations, component activation, and diagnostic testing depending on the vehicle and software.
  • Direct USB Connection: Provides a wired connection between the vehicle and computer for consistent communication during diagnostic sessions.

For BMW owners and technicians working with E-Chassis vehicles, the K+DCAN cable is one of the most useful interfaces for accessing BMW-specific diagnostic systems beyond the capabilities of a conventional universal OBD2 scanner.

FITMENT: Compatible BMW K-Line / K+DCAN Applications

Compatible with select BMW E-Chassis vehicles equipped with the corresponding OBD2 diagnostic system.

Compatibility varies by chassis, model year, production date, diagnostic protocol, control module, and software configuration.

Compatible Applications

  • BMW INPA diagnostics
  • Fault-code reading and clearing
  • Control-module communication
  • Vehicle coding
  • Retrofit coding
  • Live data monitoring
  • Service functions
  • Supported adaptation resets
  • Module identification
  • Component activation and testing
  • Vehicle configuration changes

Installation / Use

  • Install the appropriate FTDI drivers and compatible BMW diagnostic software on your Windows computer.
  • Connect the USB side of the K+DCAN cable to the computer.
  • Configure the required COM port and communication settings according to the diagnostic software being used.
  • Connect the OBD2 connector securely to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
  • Set the integrated switch to the appropriate position for your BMW chassis and communication protocol.
  • Turn the ignition to the position required by the diagnostic software.
  • Confirm communication with the vehicle and applicable control modules before performing coding or service procedures.
  • Do not disconnect the cable, turn off the ignition, or interrupt vehicle voltage during an active coding or programming procedure.

Compatibility Notes

  • This product is a K+DCAN diagnostic interface cable and is not a standalone diagnostic scanner.
  • Software, licenses, computers, drivers, battery chargers, and additional programming equipment are not included unless specifically stated.
  • The integrated switch may need to be positioned differently depending on whether the vehicle communicates through an older K-Line configuration or a later DCAN configuration.
  • Not every BMW E-Chassis model uses the same communication protocol, and compatibility can vary by production date even within the same chassis.
  • Certain older BMW vehicles equipped with the round engine-bay 20-pin diagnostic connector may require a separate BMW 20-pin adapter for proper module access.
  • This cable is primarily intended for BMW E-Chassis diagnostic and coding applications and should not automatically be assumed compatible with later F-, G-, or I-Chassis vehicles.
  • Some programming procedures require specialized interfaces and a stable external power supply and should not be performed with a basic K+DCAN cable.
  • Professional knowledge of BMW diagnostics and coding is recommended before modifying control-module settings. Interrupted power, incorrect software configuration, or improper coding can cause module communication errors or software corruption.
