Material & Finish

Most BAVMODS carbon fiber exterior upgrades are produced using lightweight dry carbon fiber construction designed to provide a strong, rigid, and premium-quality finished component.

Our splitters, diffusers, side panels, side skirts, trim pieces, and other carbon fiber upgrades are designed to complement the factory body lines of the vehicle while adding a sharper OEM+ or performance-inspired appearance.

The visible carbon weave is finished to create a deep, premium appearance while helping protect the underlying carbon structure. Because genuine carbon fiber is a woven material, slight variations in weave alignment or appearance can occur between individual components and are considered normal.

Always review the individual product listing for the exact material and finish offered for your specific part, as certain products may use different carbon fiber constructions or finishes.

Dry vs. Wet Carbon Fiber

Dry carbon fiber and wet carbon fiber differ primarily in how the carbon material and resin are manufactured.

Many of our premium BAVMODS exterior components use dry carbon fiber because it provides an excellent combination of low weight, rigidity, strength, and surface consistency.

Dry carbon fiber uses pre-impregnated carbon material that is formed and cured under controlled conditions. This helps create a more uniform carbon-to-resin ratio while reducing unnecessary excess resin.

The result is generally a lighter and more rigid component compared with many traditional wet carbon fiber parts.

Wet carbon fiber uses carbon cloth that is manually saturated with resin during the manufacturing process. While high-quality wet carbon fiber can still produce an excellent product, it may contain more resin and therefore typically weighs more than an equivalent dry carbon component.

For exterior aerodynamic components such as splitters, diffusers, side panels, and spoilers, we prefer dry carbon construction where applicable because it provides the lightweight, rigid characteristics we want from a premium exterior upgrade.

How Our Carbon Fiber Is Made

Our carbon fiber components begin with a vehicle-specific design and molding process built around the exact contours of the factory body panel they are intended to fit.

Each component is first digitally developed using CAD-based 3D modeling to map the original shape, curvature, edges, mounting points, vents, and body-line transitions of the vehicle. Depending on the component, additional 3D design software may also be used during the surface-development stage before a production mold is created.

This step is especially important for parts such as front splitter lips, rear diffusers, trunk spoilers, side skirt extensions, and other exterior aero components because these areas often feature complex curves, sharp edges, recessed sections, and compound transitions that require precise shaping.

Once the mold is completed, layers of carbon fiber material are carefully positioned inside and formed to the intended shape. For most of our larger exterior components, we use a dry carbon fiber manufacturing process.

The carbon fiber layers are vacuum bagged or vacuum molded so controlled pressure can compress the material tightly against the mold. This process helps remove trapped air, reduce excess resin, improve consistency, and produce a cleaner and more rigid finished structure.

Depending on the component, the carbon may also be cured using controlled heat and pressure to further improve strength, rigidity, and surface quality.

Dry carbon fiber construction allows for a lighter, more precise, and more structurally consistent part compared with traditional wet-lay manufacturing. It is especially beneficial on components with detailed shapes such as diffuser fins, spoiler edges, front lip contours, vents, and complex body-line transitions.

After curing, each component goes through multiple finishing stages that may include trimming, edge refinement, sanding, surface preparation, clear coating, polishing, and final quality inspection.

The mounting surfaces, overall contour, edge alignment, carbon weave, and vehicle-specific shape are then checked before fulfillment to help ensure the component corresponds with the intended chassis and application.

While most of our larger exterior carbon fiber products are produced using dry carbon fiber construction, we also offer select wet carbon fiber components where that manufacturing method is better suited to the application.

Certain mirror caps, smaller trim pieces, overlays, and decorative exterior components may use a wet carbon fiber process. These are still genuine carbon fiber components, but the resin is applied during the layup process rather than using the same dry-prepreg style manufacturing method commonly used for our larger exterior pieces.

Our carbon fiber components are not generic third-party parts pulled from universal molds, nor are they simply plastic pieces covered with carbon-pattern film, hydro-dipped graphics, or vinyl overlays.

The goal is to produce genuine, vehicle-specific carbon fiber upgrades that are digitally developed around the original body design, molded with precision, and finished to integrate naturally with the vehicle rather than appearing like a generic aftermarket add-on.

U.S. Inventory & Shipping

Most BAVMODS carbon fiber components for European vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Volkswagen, and other supported platforms are stocked or fulfilled through our U.S.-based operations.

Our U.S. facility carries a large inventory of commonly ordered carbon fiber exterior components including rear diffusers, front splitter lips, side skirt extensions, spoilers, mirror components, and other exterior upgrades. When a product is in stock at our U.S. warehouse, it can be inspected, packaged, and shipped directly to customers without waiting for international transfer or production.

Because carbon fiber components can be large, lightweight, and relatively rigid, careful packaging is extremely important. Larger pieces such as front splitters, rear diffusers, side skirts, and spoilers are packed with protective materials and reinforced packaging to help reduce the risk of damage during transit.

We also operate a secondary European warehouse and maintain a separate Europe-based inventory catalog. This gives us access to additional carbon fiber components, specialty applications, and less commonly ordered SKUs that may not always be stored at our U.S. facility.

Certain products, rare chassis applications, or lower-volume carbon fiber components may therefore ship from or be transferred through our European inventory. These products can require longer processing and delivery times compared with items already stocked in the United States.

As a general rule, if a carbon fiber diffuser, front splitter, side skirt, spoiler, or similar exterior component is actively listed within our main carbon fiber catalog, there is a strong chance that it is stocked through our U.S.-based warehouse. Inventory can still vary by chassis, style, and SKU, so availability is not guaranteed for every item at all times.

If you are looking for a specific European-market carbon fiber component that is not listed on our main website, please ask us about our Europe-based inventory as well. We maintain an additional catalog of products that may be available through our European warehouse but can require a longer fulfillment timeframe.

Installation

Our carbon fiber components are designed specifically around the chassis, body style, bumper configuration, or trim level listed on the individual product page.

Before installation, always confirm that your vehicle matches the listed fitment requirements. Differences such as M-Sport versus standard bumpers, LCI versus pre-LCI models, sedan versus coupe body styles, and different factory aerodynamic packages can significantly affect fitment.

We strongly recommend fully test-fitting the component before removing adhesive backing, drilling mounting holes, or permanently attaching the part.

Depending on the product, installation may use factory mounting locations, screws, clips, automotive-grade adhesive, 3M-style tape, additional mounting hardware, or a combination of these methods.

Larger aerodynamic components such as front splitters, side skirts, and rear diffusers may require more extensive installation than smaller trim pieces.

Professional installation is recommended for larger or more complex components, although many customers with automotive experience choose to complete installation themselves.

Never force a carbon fiber component into position. If something appears significantly misaligned during test-fitting, contact support@bavmods.com before modifying or installing the part.

Carbon Fiber Care

Proper care can significantly extend the appearance and lifespan of carbon fiber exterior components.

Wash carbon fiber using the same general techniques you would use on high-quality automotive paint. Use a clean microfiber wash mitt, pH-balanced automotive soap, and clean microfiber towels.

Avoid aggressive household cleaners, harsh solvents, abrasive compounds, or stiff brushes that may damage or dull the exterior finish.

Carbon fiber components can also be waxed, sealed, or ceramic coated using products designed for automotive clear-coated surfaces. Ceramic coating is an excellent option for customers who want additional protection against water spotting, environmental contamination, and UV exposure.

Because exterior carbon fiber is exposed to sunlight, road debris, temperature changes, rain, and other environmental conditions, keeping the surface clean and protected is recommended.

Front splitters and lower aerodynamic components should also be inspected periodically for impacts, scraping, loose hardware, or mounting damage, especially on lowered vehicles.

Returns, Cancellations & Restocking Fee

We accept returns on eligible carbon fiber exterior products such as front lips, rear diffusers, side skirts, spoilers, splitters, and similar oversized exterior upgrades, provided the items are returned in their original condition.

Customers must carefully repackage all components using the original factory packaging and protective materials. Once the return arrives at our facility, our team will inspect the product for signs of installation, damage, modification, drilling, excessive handling, or missing components.

If the product is confirmed to be in factory condition, the return can then be processed.

Order cancellations submitted within 48 hours of purchase and before shipment are generally guaranteed. After that period, the order may already be in processing, packed, transferred to freight, or in transit, and cancellation may no longer be possible.

[The information below applies specifically to larger carbon fiber exterior products, including Carbon Fiber Front Splitters, Rear Diffusers, Side Skirts, Spoilers, and other oversized carbon fiber exterior upgrades.]

For customer-requested returns or cancellations due to a change of mind, ordering the wrong item, deciding not to install the product, or similar non-defect reasons, a 15–20% restocking fee may apply.

Due to the "buy-and-try" nature of the automotive industry, this fee is necessary because many of our carbon fiber exterior components are large, fragile, and costly to handle and transport. Products such as front lips, rear diffusers, side skirts, and spoilers require oversized packaging, specialty handling, and in many cases freight shipping. Returned items must also be received, unpacked, inspected, repackaged, and returned to sellable inventory.

If a product arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect due to an error on our end, that is handled separately. Once the issue is verified, the restocking fee may be waived and our team will work with you on the appropriate repair, replacement, exchange, or other resolution.

Please note that ordering multiple products simply to test fit, compare styles, or decide which one to keep may still result in applicable restocking fees if the unused products are returned.

By completing a purchase, the customer acknowledges and agrees to the applicable return, cancellation, and restocking policies presented at checkout. Initiating a payment dispute or chargeback does not automatically override these agreed purchase terms, and supporting order documentation may be provided to the payment provider or financial institution if necessary.

For oversized carbon fiber products, we strongly recommend confirming fitment, chassis, model, and selected options before placing the order to help avoid unnecessary freight costs and return fees.
